What is the Bowen Technique?
This technique is a complementary therapy that is non-invasive and uses gentle rolling moviments to target specific areas of the body to help it balance, heal, and reset itself. The Bowen therapy has been reported to be beneficial in a variety of conditions, relieving symptoms like stress and anxiety.
How does it work?
In a session that usually lasts between 45 and 60 minutes, the therapist will apply the amount of pressure that is appropriate for the individual, in order to avoid activating the body’s natural defence system. As a result, this therapy gives the body the ability to rest, and allows it to recharge. The movements used in this technique are rolling type movements, done by the use of fingers, hands and/or elbow, depending on what area the therapist is focusing on. It stimulates nerve pathways and tissue to provide the brain a focal point.
How can it help?
The Bowen therapy is reported to be beneficial in a variety of conditions, such as back ache, neck pain, and shoulder pain. People may also choose this treatment for headaches and respiratory problems. Injured athletes also find this technique beneficial as a form of rehabilitation therapy. Due to its nature, the Bowen technique can be useful for individuals of all ages.
