Claire Nicholls is an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Processing (EMDR) Therapist. Working in accordance with NICE Guidelines, she is registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Member of the EMDR Association. She has over twenty years’ experience of working in Mental Health Services – both within the NHS and outside of it. Initially working as an Occupational Therapist and then as an EMDR Therapist, predominantly within Cambridge and London.
EMDR is a psychotherapy treatment that enable recovery from emotional and physical distress caused by disturbing memories and life events.
Claire will help you feel connected and supported every step of the way. She brings a wealth of skills to allow for an empathic and person-centred approach. She can use EMDR therapy to help with a range of presenting difficulties, including trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, complicated grief, phobias, childhood trauma and sexual violence.
The number of EMDR sessions needed depends on your personal case. EMDR is typically delivered between six and twenty sessions. If you are processing on one isolated incident, Claire expects to achieve resolution on this in fewer sessions.
In addition to her practice at Salus Wellness, Claire currently works within a University Counselling and Wellbeing Team as an EMDR Therapist. She uses EMDR to treat students presenting with varying mental health presentations and life experiences.
