Dr Michelle Ni Raghallaigh is a NHS trained insomnia specialist and cognitive neuroscientist.
Michelle helps individuals who are suffering with insomnia using the evidence-based approach Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBTI). This is the ‘gold standard’ treatment for insomnia which uses a range of strategies to improve sleep quality and is known to be extremely effective for individuals with a range of different physical (e.g. cancer) and mental health (e.g. anxiety and depression) conditions.
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to:
- Fall asleep faster
- Sleep through the night
- Ease anxiety about sleep
- Switch off your busy mind at night
- Wake up feeling refreshed
Can you picture the difference that this would make to your life?
CBTI is a combination of therapies – and it’s not the same as sleep hygiene. CBTI involves sleep education, stimulus control, sleep scheduling, relaxation techniques and cognitive therapy.
This treatment will help you experience quality sleep and lasting improvement in your sleep for the rest of your life.
Using CBTI, Michelle will help you get refreshing sleep naturally, without having to rely on sleeping tablet prescriptions or over-the-counter medication.
The benefits of CBTI persist in the long-term, long beyond when the therapy finishes. It has been proven to help those with even very long-term (decades) poor sleep.
Michelle’s approach is always personally tailored to you individually and your own unique sleep difficulty and circumstances.
A former insomnia sufferer herself, Michelle has been a neuroscientist for 20 years (including a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and clinical research at UCL), trained in insomnia therapy at the Insomnia and Behavioural Sleep Medicine Clinic, UCLH and is a member of The British Sleep Society.
Michelle offers a 6-week Insomnia Treatment Course (approx. 1 hour per week for 6 weeks): this includes an initial comprehensive sleep history and insomnia assessment, followed by a 5-week course of CBTI. This course includes email support and lifetime access to course materials that are emailed to you after each session. It’s particularly effective and appropriate for those who’ve suffered insomnia for longer than 3 months.
Michelle also provides a Sleep & Insomnia Assessment (1.5 hours): this involves a comprehensive sleep history assessment, followed by a questionnaire assessment including a measure of insomnia severity, a daytime sleepiness questionnaire, a mental health questionnaire, medical and medication history, a lifestyle questionnaire as relevant to sleep, and a sleep environment questionnaire. These questionnaires are used as recommended standard practice in NHS insomnia clinics.
